Miss Unruly (artist name; Steph) is a Kenyan rapper & creative entrepreneur. When not fusing afro-swing or dancehall & hip-hop influences into her musical body of work, she’s connecting tech startups to talent via her co-founded company Venture For Africa or managing another musician and much more. Talk about being multifaceted! But we’ll keep it on the music… mostly.
Steph’s music is a blend. And that’s both by life’s design & her own. She’s lived in multiple places and matured in varying contexts. From her extensive stay on the laidback island of Mauritius to the bustling urban setting of her native Nairobi & other spaces on the continent & beyond, she’s transferred her social adaptability into her sound.
Her flow is as playful as it is ambitious. Intentional in her journey, she sustains the same attitude in her aesthetic, crafting a sexily suave image and bouncing that same energy off her fanbase. And it’s not just the fans’ attention she’s pulled: Just three months back, she landed a feature with Canada-based neo-soul singer Koffee Bean. Equally impressive, as far as collabs go, she has not restricted herself to just her own music, but she’s taken to managing another Kenyan rapper; LilMaina. By the early looks of it, she’s got the chops when it comes to music management too.
We’re curious what next she’s out to get her hands to. But until then, we’re busking in her artistic restlessness and enterprising wits. Rule on, Miss Unruly!
