The #JamSeshThursdays team (helmed by Tandeka Mutebi, Ethan Sempa, Bella & Carlton) pulled a bold move 2 weeks ago. Co-organized by Elevate UG & The Culturing, #JamSeshLive went down at Parachichi on the evening of the 21st. As co-founder of #TheCulturing, yours truly (Joe) naturally had to be on location. Here’s some of what went down at the joint:
From 4 pm of that vibey afternoon, sesh enthusiasts had begun streaming in (haha). Didn’t take long before many of the folks who make the concept happen weekly were on ground; Murungieee, Shane Spector & crew – massive appreciation to y’all.
The assignment was simple; to replicate the weekly concept into a warm celebratory feel with the seshers queuing music while physically hanging out in real time. To add a spark to the joint, DJ Irakoze was enlisted on the booth, and boy did he do a thing! Maestroing through a delightfully versatile list of gems, he kept the night lively.
On top of the sound, the vibe was just right; catchup, refreshments, busting laidback moves, & communing over the spirit that is music. There was a lot to draw from, & you knew everyone felt it. From free souls like DJ Bugy (btw, you must be listening to him) being in attendance, to talented scenesters like Denesi letting loose, it was a beauty to watch it all unfold in such a format.
