Led’s on the beat, let’s dig in! Gonna go about this in a slightly different way just ’cause of how he curated what made it onto the project. We’ll evaluate this sucker by clustering it to break down things in a digestible way.
First, we have thoughts galore about the title tracks (plural): We loved the varying contextualizations of the piece, which in a very deserved sense centered it as the pivot of the joint. Our fav rendering is the acoustic version. Its rawness lends it a rare elegance. And the contrast between Led’s swaggy synthy vocal bars & the regal swelly piano makes for some pretty neat listening. Grand is the word. The amapiano version, on the other hand, provides an interesting template where the rhythm mogs the melody. In the same vein, the original is the most Ledra-esque of them three. Cool foresight to make a spectrum of it all.
As for our pick for overall fav track, gotta be a tie between the Kohen Jaycee-aided opener “Noha” & the mid-project stunner “Come Thru”. What the former aces in charm, the latter equalizes by way of sheer fun. On the same note, fav player on the support roster just had to be Joka. Bro had a good time & it shows. Like there’s this knack he has for cheffing up boppy vocal melodies to buoy his talk-singing formula. Thick sauce!
In terms of overall mood, there’s no pretensions of conceptual depth. One could see that as the project’s shortfall. Then again, it’s a feature and not a bug of the subgenre. The whole boy-girl sensual shtick is evidently a winner with the masses. More than that, it seems to gel with the rhythmic emphasis of this sonic domain. Other than that, gotta admit, we held Ledra in high esteem before, but this here is a lethal jewel, all factors aggregated. Bop on, Led!
