Back on our gem-scouting arc, if you can call it that, our attention was drawn to GSL; a dynamic, foresighted, multidisciplinary trio of experimental music artists. It’s not like we’d never chanced upon them before. But rather, their magic has lately registered with our team to an unignorable wavelength. So goes the cast—Kloud Dipo, Ping Ting Vibes, and Sayiyanax. In the way of their work, their most representative output so far is their debut project “Robbing Season”, a 6-track concept EP, complemented by an adjacent visual production steeped in themes of love, ambition & survival.
For a teasy taste of the project’s visual feel, help yourself to a behind-the-scenes peep of the project’s photoshoot:
We’re lately stoked about how they’ve mapped out some cool synergies both in their creative process & performance. The latter most recently evident in their masterfully curated music-film synergistic concept at the most recent Xpressions UG joint, alongside dance music maverick mwami.

One hopes they keep up the restlessness they have going with reinterpreting concepts in multiple art forms. There’s something about well synced sonic-visual complementarities that enriches an art scene in a way monodisciplinary output can’t touch. All the more if the artists are equally proficient in each form. All the signs suggest so here, and a little publicity spark would be the next natural addition in the mix. There’s a lot to say when it comes to this, perhaps more than a discovery feature can contain, but we hope to pack it in our followup piece about the act. For now, they could do well to maintain a consistency of output, & we admit we suggest so rather selfishly. But why not? Indulge us!
