As part of our #TheCulturingAt1 output, we’re breaking the fourth wall and penning exploratory features of our team’s aspirations. Of course, it’s most fitting to start off with our outfit’s co-founders, and so we will. Just to be clear, for this specific one, goes without saying that this wasn’t written by Tandeka (pre-emptive, true joke to quench others of its kind😂). The brother wields a lot of self-love, but only the kind that’s too perceptive to be on that tacky vanity arc. Speaking of arcs, this piece will harken back to some of the very first instances when the concept of The Culturing was communicated before it ever materialized.

Obviously, that “friend” in reference was our other half of the co-founder duo, Joe M. Watema (artistic alter ego – KEZEROD). But that’s for another time. Back to the other content of the post, bro spelt out what we’d be all about quite concisely. And it’s that precision that we aimed to highlight with the tweet. Point is, Tandy’s instinct for externalized style and allround aesthetic acumen is one of the most obvious things about him, and yet he’s no stereotypical all-flair-no-intellect-Ken-doll type. Quite the opposite, a close interaction with him always reveals that his outward sensibilities are a product of intricately thought-out convictions. Yet he distills it all externally in easily graspable ways. That’s the same ethos that this very publication embodies. Though we have a rather intricate agenda, we prize real interactable cultural impact over academia-laced prestige that comes from waxing scholastical about abstract social terms. And that heavily guides our lighter mood. There’s a place for everyone in the machine, but this is the part we’ve chosen. One of the last pieces in this sequence will be the influences we believe our space to have cultivated on a number of scenes of diverse art forms and subcultures in our scope, all in the dawn stages of course.

Till then, whatever more there is to pick up on Tandy will be explored through the vantage point of other members of our team. Thick sauce!
