First things first, who or what the heck is Mozaka, you ask? An experimental electronic two-piece Ugandan act comprised of restless Nairobi-based entertainment tech tinkerer David Bakka and visionary producer Ibrahim Kava, that’s what.

Their debut EP’s a fitting intro of their craft to the uninitiated.
But back to the gist of this piece, a brief about the camp:

Yours truly dropped by in the capacity of the music side project Azkadrobe, but also as a chronicler of the makings of a scene. And there was an intentionally whimsical energy about the camp, the likes of which I’ve over time come to know as capable of yielding artistic magic.
Over some warm convos, with the backdrop of some artists cooking up floaty Afro house tunes, the participants talked about what sets this kinda arrangement apart. It occurred to them that scenes compound in yields far beyond what singular acts could achieve. Whether it be regional genre-specific traction as per numbers from the international vantage point, live touring circuits, or synergies between ecosystems of artists and music business movers and shakers. As per versatility of attendants, 7 vocalists, 12 producers & 8 deejays seemed like some pretty thick sauce for first time cheffery, and y’all will soon be alive to what went down in that joint pretty soon!

One hopes, this isn’t some excitable one-off. There’s a pulse here and we’re hoping to be witnesses to more editions, chef on!
